Last year’s contest winners experienced the day of a lifetime with a group of inspiring role models from across the country who showed girls that dreams are within reach and that with Barbie they can be anything.
COLLEEN GARA, WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHER
Colleen is a wildlife photographer who is passionate about connecting people to nature. Her career allows her to travel around the world photographing animals in their natural habitats. Her message to young girls is that through hard work and determination, any career is open to them.
DR. SARA IVERSON, MARINE BIOLOGIST & PROFESSOR
Sara is a Professor of Marine Biology at Dalhousie University and the Scientific Director of the global Ocean Tracking Network. Growing up, she was inspired by animal behaviorists and conservationists and hopes her work will motivate other to achieve their potential.
DR. VICTORIA KASPI, ASTROPHYSICIST & PROFESSOR
Victoria is a professor of Physics at McGill University and Director of the McGill Space Institute. In her role, she hopes to understand the universe better, as well as mentor the next generation of astrophysicists and astronomy lovers.
DR. LYNE MORISSETTE, WILDLIFE CONSERVATIONIST
Lyne is a wildlife conservationist and is passionate about protecting whales, fish, and other marine life. As a child, playing with Barbie dolls allowed her to believe any dream was within reach. Today her goal is to make the planet a better place and inspire people to protect it for future generations.
